Mighty-K9 Ingredients: ESS60 And Olive Oil

The seller says there are two ingredients. Here is what each is, what research exists, and where the seller’s own page contradicts itself.

Important: we found no joint-health trials of C60 or ESS60 in dogs, and no long-term safety data. What exists is mostly rat and mouse work.

1. ESS60 (C60 fullerene in olive oil)

Marketed antioxidant · key ingredient

ESS60 is a trade name used by several brands for C60, a ball-shaped carbon molecule (fullerene) dissolved in olive oil. Rodent studies exist, with mixed findings. One reported a lifespan benefit in rats, and a later study reported light-dependent toxicity and no lifespan benefit in mice. A short regulatory-style study in rats found no adverse effects at the doses tested. We found no published joint-health trials in dogs, and no long-term safety data in dogs or people.

Amount per serving: not published in the materials we reviewed.

2. Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Carrier oil

The oil that carries the ESS60. Olive oil is a source of fat and calories. For most dogs a small amount is fine, but extra fat can cause loose stools, and it may be a problem for dogs prone to pancreatitis or weight gain. The seller’s claim that it “soothes joint inflammation” is not something we could verify.

Amount per serving: depends on the dog’s weight and the label’s directions.

3. “Bacon Flavor”

Flavoring named on the label

The bottle label reads “Bacon Flavor.” The seller’s page does not describe what this flavoring is. Ask what it contains if your dog has food allergies, a sensitive stomach or a salt-restricted diet.

Amount and source: not published.

4. Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM (?)

Mentioned once on the seller’s page

The seller says the product has “two ingredients,” but one passage credits “a blend of Glucosamine, Chondroitin, and MSM” for cartilage support. Both cannot be right. We cannot confirm these are in the bottle, so we do not count them.

Presence and amount: unconfirmed.

What the research says, briefly

A 2012 rat study reported a longer lifespan with C60 in olive oil. A later study reported light-dependent toxicity and no lifespan benefit in mice. A short regulatory-style rat study found no adverse effects at the doses tested. Researchers note that C60 oil has not been approved by major health authorities and that more regulatory-grade studies are needed.

Claims we do not repeat

“172× more powerful than Vitamin C,” “Nobel Prize winning discovery,” “protects the cells responsible for joint repair,” “soothes joint inflammation,” “third-party tested” and “100% organic.” We could not substantiate them for this product.
